PRESS RELEASE (with pics)
Eddie Izzard and Hugo Speer team up for new drama
Eddie Izzard, Hugo Speer, Joanne Whalley and Kerry Fox are to
star in a major new drama for Channel 4 next April. 40 is described as an "intense,
provocative and explicit" new drama by writer Bryan Elsley. It revolves around
a group of old school acquaintances, now in their 40's, whose lives are linked
by their sexual and emotional secrets. A spokesman for Channel 4 said: "The brittle
surface of their world cracks to reveal an undercurrent of discontent and sexual
frustration."
Everybody has secrets. But some are darker than others...
EDDIE IZZARD, JOANNE WHALLEY, HUGO SPEER and KERRY FOX head the
cast of 40, a powerful new three-part drama for Channel Four by Bryan Elsley (The
Young Person's Guide to becoming A Rock Star, The Crow Road, Nature Boy).
40 goes to the heart of the lives of seven people who are intimately
linked by their hidden sexual and emotional secrets. Intense, provocative and
explicit, 40 deals with the pleasure as well as the pain of giving in to others,
coming to terms with yourself and the shocking consequences of owning up.
The cast also includes NIMMY MARCH, VINCENT REGAN and MARK BENTON. 40 is directed
by David Moore (The Forsyte Saga) and produced by Emma Burge (Ella and the Mothers)
and Stewart Barlow (Rose and Maloney).
