The World’s Greatest Comedy Characters (UK TV)

The World’s Greatest Comedy Characters celebrates the funniest comedy creations of all time. This three-hour special reveals who has been voted as the nation’s favourite, counting down the 50 comedy characters who have had the nation doubled up with laughter for half a century. The programme has gathered together these hilarious gems from the very best of American and British comedy, from timeless treasures such as Steptoe and Son, Porridge and Dad’s Army to modern classics like Green Wing, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Office. The show combines the funniest archive material in comedy history with exclusive interviews from the actors, comedians, producers and writers who brought these creations to life. Interviewees include Terry Jones, Catherine Tate, Ardal O’Hanlon, Leslie Nielsen, Richard Wilson, Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson, David Mitchell, Andrew Sachs, Sandra Bernhard and Eddie Izzard.
