Stephen Fry and Eddie Izzard round on Tories in homophobia row over party’s new right-wing allies in Europe

Comedians Stephen Fry and Eddie Izzard last night stepped up the pressure on David Cameron over the Tories’ new right-wing allies in Europe.

In an open letter to Mr Cameron they accused Polish MEP Michael Kaminski of ‘homophobia’.

They welcomed the Tories’ decision to hold its first gay pride event, but added: ‘It will seem empty – a two faced gesture – if in the same week you fawn over allies whose homophobia has no place in modern Manchester, in modern Britain, or in Europe.’
